In Fallout: New Vegas, there's a total of 6 permanent humanoid companions and 2 permanent non-humanoid companions, but you can only have 2 (one of each kind) at a time following you. The 6 companions in New Vegas are Craig Boone, Lily Bowen, Rose of Sharon Cassidy (Cass), Arcade Gannon, Veronica Santangelo and Raul Tejada. How can the answer be improved?

To make her become your companion all you have to do is talk to her and drain all the speech topics until you find the one that asks her to travel with you, once you find that she will tell you her skills (she is an excellent melee companion, though she'll settle for a 10mm pistol when told). She is the one I'd recommendThere is also a that makes Sunny Smiles into a companion. I haven't tried it but its actually more popular than Russeland last, there is the companion. He is the Shoddycast guy done as a mod. The voice talent is amazing and if you have played Fallout 3 even comes with extra Three Dog! I haven't tried it but its well endorsed and recommended by Gopher who I trust.
